Urban Wines
The Urban Vineyards Association (U.V.A.) was born with the aim of protecting the rural, historical and natural heritage represented by urban vineyards, raising awareness and unlocking their touristic and winemaking potential (although not all vineyards are wine producing).
Wine production in urban vineyards is peculiar, especially due to the close proximity of households, which requires a tailored, often organic approach to vineyard management, and due to specific challenges such as limited direct sunlight and urban bird attacks.
Urban wines sometimes face a prejudice: being born in the city, they are thought to be of lesser quality than their countryside counterparts. This initiative aims to challenge that perception: soil, climate conditions, and winemaking expertise determine the quality of wine—not the surrounding landscape.
This catalogue presents a comprehensive selection of wines made from grapes grown in urban vineyards that are members of our association, including some non-commercial wines produced exclusively for cultural purposes.
