The Urban Vineyards Association celebrates the Fête des Vendanges in Paris, hosted by one of its member urban vineyards, Clos Montmartre. For over 80 years, the Montmartre Harvest Festival has celebrated the Montmartre area and its vineyard. As early as the 12th century, the ladies of the Montmartre Abbey planted the first vines and developed wine production. Before urbanization and housing took over the Butte, three-quarters of it was covered with vines, which disappeared completely in 1928 and were reborn in 1933. Since 1934, on the second weekend of October each year, Montmartre celebrates its wine tradition and welcomes the arrival of the new vintage from its vineyard.
