Planted in 1907, Marion Vineyard is one of the oldest surviving commercial vineyards in a suburban setting anywhere in the world. Located just 3km from Patritti’s Dover Gardens winery and surrounded by homes, roads, and even a public pool, this remarkable site has endured where many others were lost to urban development. Since 2006, Patritti has managed the vineyard, carefully nurturing its old-vine Grenache and Shiraz, preserving both heritage and biodiversity in the City of Marion.
The vineyard is the flagship of Patritti’s Urban Vineyard Collection, producing wines that consistently receive critical acclaim, including 96 points from James Halliday. Its Grenache–Shiraz blend is elegant, aromatic, and medium-bodied, offering layers of red fruit, floral spice, and earthy minerality. Fortified wines from solera-aged Grenache also pay homage to South Australia’s long tradition of fortified winemaking. Marion Vineyard is more than a producer—it is a living monument to Adelaide’s viticultural roots.
