Located within the Botanic Garden of Rome, on the historic slopes of Gianicolo Hill, Vigneto Italia is a living museum dedicated to the richness and diversity of Italy’s grape heritage. Established in 2018, it brings together 170 varieties—155 native grapevines from all 20 Italian regions and 15 key international varieties—planted in carefully arranged rows using the traditional alberello training system.
Covering 500 square meters and set just steps from the ancient Aurelian Walls, dating back to 272 AD, each vine tells a story of the country’s viticultural legacy. Managed with organic and biodynamic practices and free from chemical inputs, the vineyard serves not only as a conservation project but also as an educational and scientific resource, blending heritage, sustainability, and innovation in the heart of the capital. All vine cuttings were generously donated by Vivai Cooperativi Rauscedo, ensuring authenticity and genetic diversity.
