Vignole

The island is just a few minutes from Murano, and its name bears witness to the once widespread cultivation of vines.

We arrived at Le Vignole to support young farmers who had come to cultivate the land. While exploring the island, we discovered the last remaining vineyards—especially those of Luigi Di Prinzio and Stefano Corazza, who had acquired land previously farmed by Bepi Catarin. With the help of Alfio Lovisa, we recovered part of the old verduzzo dorato and prosecco vines, and replaced the dead plants with new dorona, bianchetta, and malvasia cuttings. The 2014 harvest allowed us to make our first barrel of Turgide Vignole al Vento.

The Laguna nel Bicchiere Association was born from the curiosity of Flavio Franceschet, who in 1993 discovered the lagoon vineyards, particularly the garden-vineyard of San Francesco della Vigna on the island of Sant’Elena. He then began involving the students of the middle school where he taught in the exciting phases of winemaking, having them crush the grapes with their feet.
