Vinhedo Lacustre

The story of Vinhedo Lacustre began in 1996, when the owner’s father purchased the property because he loved the view of the city. That year, he planted a grapevine that still stands on the property today. At that time, it was not possible to produce quality wines in Brasília due to the extremely rainy summers.

In the early 2000s, a technique called “double pruning” emerged. Its essence was to reverse the natural cycle of the vine, inducing it to produce during winter. Brasília’s winter has very favorable characteristics: cool nights, mild days, and no rainfall.

In 2010, excited by this new possibility, father and son joined forces to plant about 1 hectare of vineyard, cultivating Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot grapes, as well as a hybrid grape developed in Brazil called “Lorena”. At that time, grape and wine production was not intended for commercial purposes.

In 2020, a health issue prevented his father from continuing to care for the property, when his son, Marcos Ritter, decided to follow his father’s dream. In 2021, the first wine was produced under the supervision of an oenologist, and in 2022 wine tourism visits began.

Today, Vinhedo Lacustre features a restaurant serving classic Italian cuisine, guided tastings, picnics, and other attractions for wine lovers, and is an important landmark in wine tourism in the Brazilian capital.
