Located just south of Adelaide’s CBD, in the City of Marion, Patritti Wines is the proud custodian of some of South Australia’s most historic urban vineyards. Since 2006, the winery has managed the Marion Vineyard, established in 1907, which is believed to be one of the oldest surviving commercial vineyards within a suburban setting in Australia. Just 3km from Patritti’s Dover Gardens winery, this site offers a rare connection to Adelaide’s early viticultural roots.
In 2019, Patritti extended its commitment to preserving the region’s viticultural heritage by taking over the nearby Warriparinga and Oaklands Estate Vineyards, located along the Sturt River. These once-neglected sites—planted with Muscat, Palomino, and Pedro Ximenez—have been revived and are now part of Patritti’s Urban Vineyard Collection, producing award-winning wines and spirits.
The annual production of around 1,000 cases showcases the unique character of urban viticulture in South Australia, blending heritage, innovation, and place. All wines are grown, vinified, and bottled in the City of Marion, continuing a legacy that began with Giovanni Patritti in 1926, and honoring the evolving role of vineyards in urban sustainability and culture.
