Nestled within the Oaklands Wetlands and Reserve, Oaklands Estate is the most surprising of Patritti’s urban vineyards. Revived in 2019, this site is home to old Muscat Gordo vines—a reminder of Adelaide’s past when fortified wines dominated production. Despite its small size, Oaklands plays an important role in connecting urban green space, environmental stewardship, and community heritage through the lens of viticulture.
Oaklands is best known for producing the Spirit of Oaklands, a limited-release grappa-style spirit distilled from its Muscat harvest. Intensely aromatic, with notes of licorice, yeast, and wild herbs, it offers an authentic taste of place in a distinctly modern form. By turning historic vines into innovative expressions, Oaklands demonstrates the creative possibilities of urban viticulture, where wine, spirits, and community converge in the heart of the city.
