Studley Park Vineyard
Melbourne

The Vineyard was planted in 1994 on a hectare of river front land which had been used as a market garden for almost 100 years. There are indications that part of the land was used to grow grapes. Early plans reveal that the area was known as the Chinese Gardens at the beginning of the 20th century. We have also planted olives, lemons and figs which are a nod to later Italian owners of the market garden land during the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. Located 4 km from the city centre, the vineyard land is one of the very last remaining parcels of land used for agricultural purposes in proximity to the city.
We are very pleased that we have been able to preserve this historic agricultural and viticultural connection with the vineyard land and Melbourne’s early viticultural history.
